Asked May 28, 2019, 9:51 PM EDT. I have a Crimson King Maple tree that had one branch of leaves wilt, and then die last fall. This Spring, two thirds of the tree is bare. There does seem to be buds now forming on the top of some of the bare branches . My neighbor’s son is a horticulturist, and he felt it was due to drought.
